Under the leadership of the Vicar and Assistant Vicars, St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Cathedral Houston celebrated Catholicate Day on Sunday, March 13, 2016 along with the Holy Liturgy. Before the start of the Holy Liturgy, the Catholicate day flag was raised and special prayers were offered on behalf of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, which is founded on the apostolic throne of St. Thomas the Apostle as well as to commemorate the re-establishment of the Catholicate in India.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the Catholicate day pledge was read by Rev. Fr. Joel Mathew to which the faithful members of the Parish echoed with much joy and in unison, “LONG LIVE THE THRONE OF ST.THOMAS, GRANT MANY YEARS TO THE CATHOLICOS!” Sweet Paisum was served to all those in attendance in commemoration of the blessed occasion.
